terms of service
Effective date: June 3, 2026
These terms of service ("Terms") form a binding legal agreement between you and Resume Aura ("Resume Aura", "we", "our", "us") and govern your access to and use of the Resume Aura iPhone app, the browser-based web app at resumeaura.com/app, our analysis API, the optional Resume Aura Bundle download purchase, the optional shareable result pages, the resumeaura.com website, and any related features, content, or services (collectively, the "Service"). By downloading, installing, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you represent that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf and accepts responsibility for your use of the Service. You further represent that (i) you are not located in, under the control of, or a national or resident of any country subject to comprehensive U.S. trade sanctions or other substantial trade restrictions; (ii) you are not on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties; and (iii) you have not been previously suspended or removed from the Service.
the service
Resume Aura is a software service that analyzes resume text you submit and returns a 0–100 Resume Aura score, issue highlights, suggested rewrites, version history, sharing tools, and downloadable PDF and DOCX exports rendered from professionally crafted templates. The Service is delivered as both an iPhone app and a browser-based web app. Scores and suggestions are generated by automated systems, including third-party large-language-model providers (see "third-party services" below). The Service is provided for personal, informational, and self-improvement purposes and is not a substitute for professional career, legal, financial, medical, or psychological advice.
accounts and access
The iPhone app has no user accounts; access is tied to your device. The web app does not require an account to scan, score, or rewrite — those features are free and anonymous. If you choose to purchase the optional download bundle in the web app, the email address you provide at Stripe Checkout becomes the identifier for that purchase, and we issue a per-browser API key tied to that email. You can return to your purchase on a new browser by signing in with the same email and a 6-digit code we send to that address (see "purchases and the Resume Aura Bundle" below). You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device, your email account, and any credentials used to access the Service, and for promptly notifying us of any unauthorized use.
your content
"Your Content" means any resume text, file, prompt, instruction, edit, or other material you submit to or generate through the Service. You retain ownership of Your Content. You grant Resume Aura and its service providers a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, sublicensable license to host, store, transmit, process, reproduce, modify, create derivative works of, and display Your Content solely as needed to operate, provide, secure, support, improve, and develop the Service, to comply with law, and to enforce these Terms. We do not retain Your submissions server-side after the response is returned, except as described in the privacy policy.
You represent and warrant that (i) you own or have all rights and permissions necessary to submit Your Content and to grant the license above; (ii) Your Content does not violate any law or these Terms; and (iii) any personal data of third parties contained in Your Content has been collected, used, and shared in compliance with applicable law and with all required consents.
acceptable use
The Service relies in part on third-party AI providers (including OpenAI), and you must comply with those providers' usage policies in addition to these Terms. You agree that you will not use, attempt to use, or permit others to use the Service or any output generated by it to:
- Violate law or rights. Engage in any activity that violates any applicable law, regulation, sanctions program, court order, or third-party right (including intellectual property, privacy, publicity, contractual, and consumer-protection rights).
- Harm or exploit minors. Generate, request, host, or distribute child sexual abuse material, sexualized depictions of minors, or any content that exploits, endangers, or grooms minors.
- Generate hateful, harassing, or violent content. Produce content that incites or promotes violence, terrorism, genocide, or self-harm; that harasses, threatens, intimidates, defames, or dehumanizes any individual or group; or that promotes hatred or discrimination on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, disability, age, veteran status, or other protected characteristics.
- Facilitate physical or societal harm. Plan, develop, or provide instructions for weapons (including chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, or conventional weapons), illicit drug synthesis, attacks on critical infrastructure, or activity that creates a high risk of physical injury, death, or property destruction.
- Engage in fraud or deception. Create scams, phishing, impersonation, plagiarism, academic dishonesty, fake reviews, astroturfing, coordinated inauthentic behavior, disinformation, manipulated media intended to mislead, or other deceptive content. Do not present AI-generated content as solely human-authored where doing so is misleading or violates the rules of the receiving party (including academic institutions, employers, or government bodies).
- Compromise privacy. Submit another person's personally identifiable information (including resumes) without that person's informed consent; perform tracking, profiling, or surveillance of individuals; conduct biometric identification; or unlawfully collect, infer, or disclose sensitive personal data.
- Provide regulated advice. Hold out the Service's output as professional legal, medical, financial, psychological, or other regulated advice; provide individualized diagnosis or treatment; or use the Service in any context requiring a licensed professional without appropriate qualified human review.
- Make high-stakes automated decisions. Use the Service or its output as the sole or primary basis for any decision that has legal or similarly significant effect on a person, including decisions about employment (hiring, promotion, termination, performance evaluation), credit or lending, housing, insurance, immigration, education, public benefits, or criminal justice, without meaningful human review and any disclosures required by law.
- Engage in political manipulation. Generate targeted political campaign material, voter-suppression content, or political disinformation, or engage in lobbying that misrepresents the source of communications.
- Produce malicious code or attacks. Generate, distribute, or facilitate malware, spyware, ransomware, exploits, or any tool intended to gain unauthorized access to systems, networks, or data; or conduct denial-of-service or similar attacks.
- Generate disallowed sexual or graphic content. Produce non-consensual sexual content, sexual content involving real identifiable individuals without consent, or other adult content prohibited by applicable third-party AI provider policies.
- Reverse engineer or extract. Decompile, disassemble, reverse-engineer, scrape, harvest, or otherwise attempt to derive source code, model weights, prompts, training data, or trade secrets from the Service or its API.
- Circumvent controls. Bypass, disable, or interfere with any security, authentication, rate-limit, content-filter, geofencing, or access-control mechanism; remove or alter any proprietary notices; or misrepresent your identity, affiliation, or location to obtain access.
- Abuse infrastructure. Use bots, crawlers, scripts, or other automated means to access the Service beyond rate limits; submit excessive or malformed traffic; or otherwise impose undue load on, degrade, disrupt, or interfere with the Service or other users.
- Compete or train competing models. Use the Service or its output to build, train, evaluate, or improve any product, service, or machine-learning model that competes with Resume Aura or with the third-party AI providers powering the Service.
- Resell or relicense. Sell, resell, sublicense, lease, time-share, or otherwise commercially exploit the Service or its output as a standalone offering without our prior written consent.
This list is illustrative, not exhaustive. We may, but are not obligated to, monitor, review, filter, refuse, or remove any content or activity we believe violates these Terms or applicable third-party AI provider policies, and we may use automated systems and human review to do so. Violations may result in immediate suspension or termination of access, removal of content, refusal of refunds, and reporting to law enforcement or other authorities where appropriate.
third-party services
The Service relies on third-party providers, including OpenAI for AI processing, Stripe for the optional download-bundle checkout, Amazon Web Services (specifically Simple Email Service / SES) for delivering the 6-digit web-app login code, and Apple for App Store distribution of the iPhone app. Your use of features that depend on these providers is also subject to the providers' own terms and policies, including the OpenAI usage policies, the Stripe Services Agreement, and the AWS customer agreement. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, performance, content, or practices of any third-party service, and changes by those providers may affect or interrupt the Service.
AI-generated output
Output generated by the Service, including scores, breakdowns, issue lists, suggestions, rewrites, and chat-edit responses, is produced by automated systems and may be inaccurate, incomplete, biased, out of date, or inappropriate for your situation. Identical or similar inputs may produce similar output for different users; we make no claim of exclusivity or originality in any output. You are solely responsible for reviewing, verifying, and deciding whether and how to use any output, and for any consequences that result. Output is provided for informational purposes only and is not professional advice of any kind.
anonymous score aggregation
Each scan you run contributes the resulting integer score (0–100) and a timestamp to an anonymous aggregate dataset that powers the score-distribution comparison curve shown on the score screen. The contribution contains no resume text, no filename, no IP address, no device identifier, and no information that could be used to identify you or link the data back to your iPhone. By using the Service you acknowledge that your scores are aggregated this way for the sole purpose of computing the comparison curve and the percentile thresholds (lowest 5%, below median, above median, top 1%) that are displayed to all users. We do not sell, share, or otherwise transfer this aggregate to any third party. Full details are in our privacy policy.
purchases and the Resume Aura Bundle
Resume Aura analysis is free of charge: scanning your resume, viewing your Resume Aura score and breakdown, accepting rewrite suggestions, and using chat-edit and the score-distribution comparison curve all remain free and require no sign-up or subscription. The Service additionally offers an optional one-time purchase called the "Resume Aura Bundle" that unlocks unlimited downloads of your polished resume as a professionally crafted PDF or DOCX in any of the templates we provide. Purchases are processed through Stripe Checkout; the price, accepted payment methods, applicable taxes, currency, and any promotional codes are presented to you in Stripe Checkout before you complete the purchase, and your purchase becomes binding when Stripe confirms the payment. Entitlement is granted by a signed Stripe webhook and is tied to the email address you enter at checkout. You can return to your purchase on a new browser by signing in with the same email and the 6-digit verification code we email through Amazon SES. Refunds are not provided automatically; if you believe a charge is in error or the Service did not perform as described, contact [email protected] and we will review in good faith. Chargebacks and disputes initiated through Stripe are handled under the Stripe Services Agreement and may result in suspension of bundle entitlement pending review. There are no subscriptions and no auto-renewals: the Resume Aura Bundle is a one-time purchase.
sharing of scores and referral codes
The Service includes optional features that let you share your Resume Aura score and personal referral code with others through the standard system share sheet. When you choose to share, you authorize the disclosure of that information to the recipient and the platform you share through. You are responsible for what you share, with whom, and the consequences of sharing. Referral codes may not be obtained or used through fraud, spam, automation, incentivized bot traffic, or in violation of any platform's terms; we may invalidate referrals and rewards we believe were obtained improperly.
no guarantees; not professional advice
The Resume Aura score is a heuristic generated by automated analysis. The Service does not guarantee any particular job outcome, interview, offer, salary, promotion, admission, or similar result, and is not a substitute for advice from qualified human professionals, including career coaches, recruiters, attorneys, accountants, or licensed clinicians. Treat all output as a starting point, not a verdict.
intellectual property
The Service (including the Resume Aura name and mark, the Resume Aura brand system, the user interface, the visual designs, the analysis engine, the prompts, the source code, and all associated materials) is owned by Resume Aura or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, trade-secret, and other intellectual property laws. Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to install and use the Service on devices you own or control for your personal, non-commercial use. All rights not expressly granted are reserved. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, publicly display, publicly perform, or create derivative works from the Service without our prior written permission.
feedback
If you provide us with suggestions, ideas, bug reports, or other feedback about the Service, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable license to use that feedback for any purpose, without obligation or compensation to you.
termination
You may stop using the Service at any time by deleting the app from your device. We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your access to all or part of the Service at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms, posed a risk to the Service or other users, or imposed undue load on our infrastructure, or as required by law. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including your content license, disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnification, intellectual property, and dispute-resolution provisions) will survive.
disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", with all faults and without warranty of any kind. Resume Aura, its affiliates, and its licensors and suppliers expressly disclaim all warranties, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including any warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, quiet enjoyment, and any warranties arising out of any course of dealing or usage of trade. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or free of harmful components, or that any output will be accurate, reliable, or meet your expectations.
limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event will Resume Aura, its affiliates, or its licensors and suppliers be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenues, business, opportunities, goodwill, data, or use, arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service, whether based in contract, tort (including negligence), strict liability, or any other theory, and whether or not we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total aggregate liability for all claims arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) US $100. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages; in those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the smallest extent permitted by law.
indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Resume Aura, its affiliates, and their respective officers, directors, employees, agents, and licensors from and against any and all claims, demands, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to (i) Your Content; (ii) your use or misuse of the Service; (iii) your violation of these Terms or any applicable law; or (iv) your violation of any third-party right, including any intellectual property or privacy right.
changes to the service
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service, or any feature or portion of it, at any time, with or without notice. We are not liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service.
changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date above and, where the changes are material, provide additional notice through the Service. Your continued use of the Service after the changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the Service.
governing law and dispute resolution
These Terms and any dispute arising out of or relating to them or the Service are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION], without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply. Subject to applicable law, you and Resume Aura agree to first attempt to resolve any dispute informally by contacting [email protected] and allowing us at least sixty (60) days to respond. If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, it will be brought exclusively in the courts located in [JURISDICTION], and you and Resume Aura consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts. To the maximum extent permitted by law, you and Resume Aura each waive any right to a jury trial and to participate in any class, consolidated, or representative action. Nothing in this section limits your non-waivable rights under applicable consumer-protection law.
Apple-specific terms
If you obtained the Service through the Apple App Store, the following additional terms apply: (i) these Terms are between you and Resume Aura, not with Apple, and Apple is not responsible for the Service or its content; (ii) your license to use the Service is limited to use on Apple-branded products you own or control, as permitted by the Apple Media Services Terms; (iii) Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support; (iv) Resume Aura, not Apple, is responsible for any product warranties, which are disclaimed to the extent permitted by law; (v) Resume Aura, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to the Service, including product-liability and consumer-protection claims and claims that the Service infringes intellectual property; (vi) you represent that you are not located in, and will not use the Service in, a country subject to U.S. embargo or designated by the U.S. government as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties; and (vii) Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
copyright complaints
If you believe content available through the Service infringes your copyright, please send a notice to [email protected] that includes (i) a description of the copyrighted work; (ii) a description of the allegedly infringing material and its location; (iii) your contact information; (iv) a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized; (v) a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are authorized to act on behalf of the rights owner; and (vi) your physical or electronic signature.
miscellaneous
These Terms, together with the privacy policy and any other policies referenced here, constitute the entire agreement between you and Resume Aura regarding the Service and supersede any prior or contemporaneous agreements. If any provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect, and the invalid provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted by law. Our failure to enforce any right or provision is not a waiver of that right or provision. You may not assign or transfer these Terms or any rights under them without our prior written consent; we may assign these Terms without restriction. Neither party will be liable for any failure or delay in performance caused by events beyond its reasonable control. Notices to us must be sent to [email protected].
